In
January 1997, we had a vision – to evolve a durable and sustainable
manpower and /or human resources development outfit that would serve
humanity credibility, prepared memos, proposals and inverted some
professional colleagues who we felt are credible and sufficient
honest and expose to be part of the “Vision” on actualization.
On the 19th of March 1999, the vision was actualized.
The institute of Company and Commercial Accountant of Nigeria was
incorporated under the companies & Allied Matters Acct, 1990,(Limited
by shares) to the glory of God and the benefits/services of mankind.
To the founding trustees, the institute of the Company
and Commercial Accountants (ICCA) is like a gamji tree solid trunk
mighty deep roots and over –lapping leaves that spread like
umbrella, it offers solid protective shade from rain and sun to
all beneath it.
The more the wind blows against the gamji tree the
deeper the roots grow and the firmer it stands.
The gamji tree is a wonderful gift of nature to people who have
aspiration or who are in needed.
The mission of the institute of the Company and Commercial
Accountants of Nigeria list to remain true to the vision of its
founding fathers at all times –a leading financial institute
capable of providing its members and students across the country,
a central and distinct body and the best available accounting education
training programme.
Membership of the institute is open to all who are able to confirm
with or satisfy the conditions and standard put in place by the
governing Council of the institute. On the other hands, young men
and women who aspire to become professional accountants and who
possess the basic entry requirements would be signed on and encouraged
to realized their objectives/aspiration. The Institute has put in
place necessary machineries for the conducts of its qualifying examination
as a way of producing qualified Professional Accountants The gradates
of the Institute will be known as Incorporated certified Company
Accountants.
As part of its contributions to the growth of business
ethics in Nigeria Society, the Institute shall from time to time
recogniseand honour individuals and corporates body who make meaningful
and innovative contributions to the development,gowth and study
of accountancy, commerce and industry, Economics and other fields
of human endeavours. This policy shall apply to all sector of the
economy without discrimination.
The Institute acknowledges the existence of other
professional bodies. It will cooperate and work harmoniously with
them not only for the quick realization of its declare objectives
but more importantly, for the promotion of ethical behaviours and
social responsiveness to our seeming aggressive pursuance of knowledge
which we consider to be inevitable strategic option foe human developments.
Finally, in its desire to respond positively
and proactively to the educational needs of its members and students,
the Institute will put in place adequate training programmes that
will enhance their intellectual growth. The first graduates of the
Institute who will emerge during the first few years of the millennium
will be more than “number men”. They will be of maximum
value to society by being part of the objectives of their social
economics environment, their accounting skill not withstanding.
